At ASPA we have a strong commitment in protecting Madeiran heritage, reason why we spend hours and hard work keeping the original features of our historical buildings and respecting the time and style on every refurbishment. But protecting our heritage should not be only about protecting the past, it must be about protecting the future as well, and passing a valuable legacy to the generations to come. As part of this commitment, in the last few months, we have been planning several actions and making some refurbishments to become more environmentally sustainable. With our taps and shower heads the water wastage decreased approximately 20%
Our Food & Beverage is focused on local, seasonal, and, as much as possible, organic ingredients
Reusable jute bags for guests shopping needs, to avoid single-use plastic bags.
Unconsumed, intact food left at check-out, items in good shape that guests do not wish to take back are donated to local charity groups
We upcycle and repurpose all our furniture.
In our circular book corner, books never grow old. We invite guests to exchange books and share stories
All equipment and utensils in good condition are donated annually to charitable organizations
All our cleaning products are certified by ecolabel
All the garbage taken from the studios is separated and recycled
We buy ingredients directly from the farmer, encouraging them to produce certified organic products.
We have an energy monitoring system to identify opportunities for improvement and to reduce consumption
